Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer end-of-life pet photography?

Yes. These sessions hold a very special place in my heart. I understand how emotional this time can be, and my goal is to make the experience as peaceful and comforting as possible. End-of-life sessions are typically done in the comfort of your home or at a quiet park your pet loves. You can take breaks as needed, and I’ll guide things gently to capture meaningful, natural moments that you’ll be able to hold onto forever.

What is the booking fee, and how does it work?

A $50 non-refundable booking fee is required to secure your session date and time. This fee goes toward your total session cost. For example, if your session total is $400, you’ll owe $350 after the session. The booking fee reserves your date exclusively for you, ensuring I can give your session my full attention and care.

How far in advance should I book?

Most clients book three to six weeks in advance to get their preferred date, especially for weekends or busy seasons like spring and fall. For end-of-life sessions, I always do my best to schedule as soon as possible to make sure you don’t miss the chance to capture those moments.

Where are you based, and do you travel?

I’m based in Concord, North Carolina, and I photograph pets all over Charlotte, and surrounding areas. I’m happy to travel further if needed, any location over 20 miles from Concord has a travel fee of $75 per hour to cover time and distance.

What happens if I need to cancel my session?

Your booking fee is non-refundable, but it can be transferred once to a new date if you need to reschedule. Life happens, and I completely understand. Please try to give at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to change your session time.

Do you photograph pets with special needs or mobility issues?

Yes. Whether your pet is blind, deaf, or has limited mobility, we’ll plan your session around their comfort. I’ve photographed many senior and special-needs pets and know how to adjust the pace, poses, and setting to make sure they’re happy and relaxed.

Can I be in the photos with my pet?

Absolutely! I encourage it. Whether it’s a few candid moments together or a mix of family and solo pet portraits, being in the photos adds even more meaning. These sessions are about celebrating your bond, and those shared moments often end up being favorites.

Can my family be included too?

Yes! I offer sessions that include families with their pets. Many clients love having updated family photos that include their dog or cat, it’s a great way to capture everyone together and create something special for your home.

How do you photograph pets?

Every session is completely customized to your pet’s personality. Some animals love to play, while others prefer calm interaction, and that’s okay. I use patience, understanding, and years of experience working with all types of animals to create a fun, stress-free session.

What if my pet is shy, hyper, or reactive?

That’s perfectly fine. I photograph pets of all temperaments and energy levels. I always work at their pace and take breaks as needed. If your pet is reactive or nervous around new people or other animals, I’ll choose a quiet location and bring extra patience and techniques to make sure they feel safe. Beautiful photos are absolutely possible for every pet.

Do you edit out leashes and harnesses?

Yes, I remove leashes from final photos when it’s safe for your pet to remain leashed during the session. Harnesses are not edited out since they can alter the dog’s fur or shape, but I recommend bringing a neutral-colored set (white, cream, black, or tan) to keep the photos clean and timeless.

What if the weather is bad on our session day?

If it rains or the lighting isn’t ideal, we’ll reschedule to the next available date that works for you. I monitor the forecast closely and will always reach out ahead of time if rescheduling looks necessary. Your deposit automatically transfers to the new date.

Where do sessions take place?

Most sessions are outdoors at parks or open spaces around Concord and Charlotte during the golden hour before sunset or in the morning, If your pet is more comfortable at home or has mobility issues, I also offer at-home sessions.

How many pets can be included in one session?

You’re welcome to include multiple pets! For larger groups or households with three or more animals, I recommend booking a full session to make sure there’s enough time for everyone.

When will I get my photos?

You’ll receive your proof gallery within about 1-2 days after your session. Once you’ve selected your favorite images, final edited photos are delivered within 1.5 to 2 weeks. Rush delivery is available upon request.

How many photos will I receive?

It depends on the session type. Mini sessions include 5 edited digital images, while full sessions include anywhere from 15 - 45 images based on the package you choose. You’ll see all the best unedited images in your proof gallery and can always add extras later if you’d like.

Can I purchase additional images after my session?

Yes, absolutely. Once you view your proof gallery, you’ll have the option to purchase extra images, prints, or artwork directly from your final gallery.

Do you offer prints or albums?

Yes. Your final gallery includes access to a professional print store where you can order high-quality prints, albums, and framed artwork directly. I handle all printing through professional labs to ensure the best quality and color accuracy.

What time of day is best for sessions?

Outdoor sessions are always scheduled around sunrise or, most often, in the evening about an hour and a half before sunset for the best lighting. Indoor or at-home sessions can be scheduled earlier in the day when natural light is brightest.

Can I bring props or outfits for my pet?

Of course! Props and outfits can add personality and fun to your photos. Feel free to bring any accessories, special collars, or themed items you’d like included. We’ll mix a few styled shots in with natural, candid ones for variety.

How should I prepare for our session?

A short walk or a bit of playtime before your session can help your dog relax and get out extra energy. Bring treats, water, a favorite toy, and anything that makes them comfortable. For cats or smaller pets, a familiar blanket or carrier can help them feel secure. If you’ll be in the photos, choose simple outfits in neutral or pastel tones that won’t distract from your pet.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes! Gift certificates are available and make a meaningful gift for any pet lover. They can be purchased for any session type and used within one year of purchase.

Do you retouch every photo?

Each image you select is hand-edited for color, lighting, distractions, and small touch-ups to ensure it matches my clean, natural editing style. My goal is to make your images look polished and timeless without ever feeling over-edited.

Can I bring someone to help during the session?

Yes, definitely. Bringing a friend or family member to help with your pet can make things go smoother, especially if you’re planning to be in the photos. An extra set of hands can help manage leashes, treats, or toys while I focus on capturing your pet’s best angles.

Do you photograph indoor-only pets or cats?

Yes. I love photographing cats and other indoor pets. These sessions are usually done in your home so your pet feels comfortable and can move around freely. I use natural light whenever possible, and I work quietly to keep things calm and stress-free.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. I understand that professional photography is an investment, and I want it to be accessible for everyone. Payment plans can be arranged for full sessions, splitting the balance into two or three payments as long as the full amount is paid before your gallery is delivered.

Can I post my photos on social media?

Of course! I love seeing your favorites shared. You’re welcome to post your images anywhere online, just please don’t apply filters or heavy edits that change the look of the final images. Tagging my page when you share is always appreciated.

Can I bring my pet’s favorite blanket, bed, or toy?

Yes, please do. Familiar items help your pet relax and can be used in photos for a personal touch. I especially love incorporating blankets, toys, or collars that have sentimental meaning.

Do you offer commercial or brand photography for pet businesses?
