As a Charlotte dog photographer, I spend a lot of time exploring the area with clients and their dogs, and over the years I’ve discovered some truly beautiful locations that dogs love. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful walk, a new place to explore, or somewhere special to spend time with your dog, these locations are some of my favorites in the Charlotte area.

Freedom Park
Freedom Park is one of the most loved parks in Charlotte for both people and dogs. The tree-lined paths, open fields, and beautiful lake make it perfect for a relaxing walk with your dog.
There are plenty of shaded areas, scenic bridges, and quiet corners where you can slow down and enjoy time together. In the evenings, the park fills with warm golden light, making it one of the most beautiful places in the city.
It’s also one of my favorite locations for dog photography sessions because of the variety of natural backdrops and soft lighting.

McAlpine Creek Park
McAlpine Creek Park offers one of the most peaceful walking experiences in Charlotte. The trails wind through wooded areas alongside a quiet creek, creating a calm and relaxing environment for both dogs and their owners.
This park is perfect for dogs that enjoy longer walks and exploring new scents along the trail. The natural setting feels a little removed from the city, which makes it a great place to slow down and enjoy the outdoors together.

Jetton Park (Lake Norman Area)
Located along Lake Norman, Jetton Park is a stunning place to walk your dog. The walking trails follow the shoreline, offering beautiful views of the water and plenty of open space.
Dogs love the fresh air and wide trails, and the sunsets here can be absolutely beautiful. It’s one of the most scenic places in the Charlotte and Lake Norman area to spend time outdoors with your dog.

Frank Liske Park (Concord)
Frank Liske Park is one of my favorite locations just outside Charlotte in Concord. The large open fields, tree lines, and walking paths make it an ideal place for dogs to explore.
The park has a very relaxed atmosphere and beautiful natural surroundings. It’s also one of the best locations in the area for golden hour walks, when the sunlight filters through the trees and creates a warm, peaceful setting.

Latta Nature Preserve
If you and your dog enjoy quiet trails and nature, Latta Nature Preserve is a fantastic place to explore. Located near Mountain Island Lake, the preserve offers miles of scenic trails through forests and along the water.
This is a wonderful location for dogs who enjoy longer adventures and exploring nature. The trails feel peaceful and natural, and it’s easy to forget you’re still close to the city.

For those who enjoy an urban setting, First Ward Park in Uptown Charlotte offers a unique place to walk your dog. The modern design, green spaces, and city skyline views create a different atmosphere compared to the more wooded parks around the city.
Many dog owners love bringing their pets here for a quick walk while enjoying the energy of the city.

Just outside Charlotte in Fort Mill, Anne Springs Close Greenway offers miles of trails and beautiful natural landscapes. The open fields, lakes, and wooded paths make it a favorite for outdoor lovers and their dogs.
It’s a wonderful place to spend an afternoon walking, exploring, and enjoying nature with your dog.
